Before You Buy — Bank Account

Open a Portuguese Bank Account — Without Flying to Portugal

We prepare and coordinate your application remotely, so you don’t need to be in the country. You’ll need a NIF first — and if you don’t have one yet, we can do both together.

Opening a Portuguese bank account is one of the first things you’ll need when moving to Portugal — and it can usually be done remotely. Here’s how it works, and how we can help.

On its own, an account. On your plan, the foundation your lease, your taxes and your whole setup lean on. Open it alone, or as part of a move we run.

Can I open a Portuguese bank account from abroad?

In most cases, yes. We prepare and coordinate your application remotely, so you don’t need to fly to Portugal. You’ll need a NIF (tax number) first, plus your passport and a recent proof of address. The bank makes the final decision — our job is to give your application the best possible footing.

A NIF has to be in place before you can open an accountThe bank always makes the final call

What you’ll need

Before we start

To open a Portuguese bank account, the bank will generally need:

No NIF yet? Our NIF + Bank bundle handles both in one coordinated process.

How it works

From order to account, in five steps

01

Choose your package & order

Pick bank-only (if you already have a NIF) or a bundle. Payment instructions follow by email.

02

Get your document list

Within 24 hours you receive an email with the exact documents the bank needs and a secure upload link.

03

Upload your documents

You upload your passport, NIF and proof of address through the secure link — never as a plain email attachment.

04

We prepare & submit

We complete the paperwork and coordinate the application with the bank, answering its standard questions with you.

05

The bank decides

The bank reviews and, where approved, opens your account and issues your details (IBAN). The final decision is the bank’s.

What we can — and can’t — promise

The decision is the bank’s

We prepare and coordinate your application, but the final decision is always the bank’s. Banks are legally required to verify your identity and the origin of your funds — those checks are theirs, not ours, and they may decline an application under their own policies.

That’s simply how banking works everywhere, and we’d rather be upfront about it than over-promise. What we can do is give your application the strongest possible footing: the right documents, prepared correctly, submitted to the right people, with the bank’s standard questions answered clearly.

Our refund policy

Clear, in advance

You provided everything, the bank still declined

If you provide all the exact documents and information the bank requires and the bank still declines your application, we refund 50% of the bank-account fee.

Account not opened due to incomplete or incorrect information

If an account isn’t opened because the information provided was incomplete or incorrect, the fee is non-refundable.

Third-party or government fees

Any third-party or government fees already incurred are non-refundable.

These terms match our Terms of Service. If anything is unclear before you order, ask us — we’d rather you understand exactly what you’re paying for.

What actually decides it

Most of opening an account is preparing it properly.

Every non-resident is asked the same things — who you are, where you live, and where your money comes from — because banks are legally required to verify your identity and the origin of your funds. The application rarely fails on the bank’s mood; it succeeds or stalls on whether those answers are prepared correctly. Getting that right is most of the job. Start with your NIF →
